EAST COUNTY — Home of Guiding Hands, which provides services, training and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities, their families and others who would benefit will assume the operations and assets of the Charles I. Cheneweth Foundation. The Cheneweth Foundation provides transportation services to individuals with severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. Mark R. Klaus, Home of Guiding Hands executive director, and Sister Mary Bartosh, CICF Board president, announced the plans in early December.
With this expansion of services, Home of Guiding Hands will employ more than 600 people and support almost 1,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families in San Diego and Imperial County.
“Our goal is to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible and to enhance the services offered to individuals and families supported by CICF and HGH,” Klaus said in a prepared statement. “CICF has an outstanding reputation and a long history for providing quality services and advocacy. We at HGH are thrilled that many of CICF’s board members have committed to continue to support the vision of Charles Cheneweth and HGH.”
The organizations will be combined and the programs will operate under the umbrella of the Home of Guiding Hands once final regulatory approval is received by both groups.

A Very Happy Holiday Season at HGH!

For most of us, the holiday season means spending time with friends and family, enjoying warm meals together, and being merry. For some of the residents at HGH who don’t have family of their own, their house holiday party will be the only chance they get to celebrate during the season. With your help, we have the ability to bring the holiday cheer and celebrate the season together.

Throughout the year we searched for sponsors to help fulfill the wishes of our residents. Their limited funds for personal necessities don’t begin to cover the cost of special events like the holiday parties, so we turned to our loyal friends to make the house holiday parties happen.

Because of your help and support, all 31 HGH homes will enjoy a holiday meal, share stories and laughter with friends, and create everlasting memories with loved ones. December has been a very busy month here at HGH. The holiday parties started in the beginning of December and go until December 21st. It’s been a wonderful season here at HGH and we are so appreciative for the generosity that has come from the community.

To our 2011 Holiday Home Sponsors, thank you!
All of this wouldn't be possible without each and every one of you.
