Home of Guiding Hands operates 27 homes in
the San Diego, California communities of Santee,
Lakeside, San Carlos and El Cajon. Each of these
homes and their residents have specific needs,
many of which are not covered by reimbursement
from the State of California. Our residents are very
low income and have limited funds available to pay
for personal items such as clothing, movie rentals,
dining at restaurants and field trips to parks and local
attractions. With your help and with the support of corporate
contributions and grants, HGH is able to help provide these "wished for" items.

In addition, the 24 hour seven day a week operation of the 27 homes is very costly and only partially funded by the California's reimbursement rates. There is an ongoing need for assistance with major purchases such as appliances, flooring and furniture, for therapeutic equipment, and for any major remodeling projects which may be necessary.

With the help of individual donors and the support from corporate contributions and grants, HGH is able to provide these "extra" items, which dramatically improve the quality of life for our residents.

We need your help in providing those little extras that enrich the lives of our residents and increase their level of comfort. Due to the specific needs of the residents at our homes, items donated to HGH must meet certain criteria and standards that will ensure the best support and quality possible. Donated Items should be new and may be purchased at one of the recommended stores listed below. Gift cards and cash donations for specific items are also encouraged. Please note that 100% of all designated donations go directly to that item or program. Following is a list of some specific items currently on our Wish Lists:

• Wheelchairs (manual, excellent condition or new)
• Adult diapers (Depends)
• Movie passes to east San Diego County theatres
• Passes to area attractions (including the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland and Disneyland)
• Stereo CD players with radio/cassette
• Gift Certificates to East County restaurants & shops
• Gift Certificates to hair salons
• Linens (kitchen towels, twin sheet sets & comforters, bath towels, washcloths)
• Pots & pans, dishes, glasses, baking dishes, plastic storage containers
• VHS and/or DVD movies

Large Items – Furniture, Electrical & Appliances, Flooring, Outdoor Equipment

Home of Guiding Hands no longer has the ability to pick up, process and store used furniture and appliance items. Due to the specific needs of the individual residents and their home, these large items must be purchased new. We are currently seeking donations and/or matching funds so that the following items can be purchased, delivered and installed directly in one of the 28 homes. We would also like to establish partnership agreements with local vendors that could help us replace the following items at discounted or no cost:

• New flooring (commercial-grade linoleum)
• Sofas, love seats and chairs (durable, sturdy, stain resistant)
• Sturdy dining room tables and chairs
• Microwave ovens
• VCR/DVD players
• CD players
• Sturdy patio furniture (no glass please)
• Gas barbeque grills
