5th Annual Arts & Tea Celebration

Mad Hatter Tea Party A Success!

It was an event that Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat would have loved!  Friends, families, residents and supporters of HGH enjoyed sweet and savory treats, shopping for one-of- a-kind jewelry and crafts and of course, tea at the 5th Annual Arts & Tea Celebration on Saturday, May 15th. More than 200 party-goers turned out at the La Mesa Community Center, including 50 residents and staff members – their tickets had been generously donated by our thoughtful sponsors. This year's them was the “Mad Hatter Tea Party” and it was reflected in the brightly colored table and room decorations. Over $9,000 was raised.

"The event has grown substantially over the past few years, and we are very excited about the number of people who attended,” said HGH Events Coordinator Rachel Carney. “This year we were able to add more artisans with some beautifully hand-crafted items. It provided a unique shopping experience for guests."

Carney credited the success of the event to the 2010 Arts and Tea Committee: Elaine Harvey, Andrea Howard, Garlyn Lewis, Lynda Muse, Florence Odion, Jean O'Grady, Margo O'Donnell, Janet Robbins, Linda Shipman and Ellen Townsley.  “These ladies did an amazing job,” she said. “They worked very hard to make this such a special event for everyone.”
