Southern California PGA Partners with HGH

Over $50,000 Raised for San Diegans with Developmental Disabilities

The 27th Annual HGH Golf Classic – Pro-Am Tournament, held Friday, October 16th, at the Sycuan Resort and Casino’s Championship Willow Glen course raised over $50,000 for Home of Guiding Hands’ (HGH) programs for San Diegans with developmental disabilities.

“We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this event,” said Rachel Carney, HGH Events Coordinator. “The support we received from the community, golfers, pros and our fabulous volunteer committee made the tournament a financial success for Home of Guiding Hands and a success at every other level as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, professionals and amateurs alike.”

The Golf Classic-Pro-Am was sponsored by Grossmont Healthcare District and The Bill and Norma Verbeck Foundation . Other major sponsors included: Mountain View Services, Viejas Casino, Hanken Cono Assad, Sycuan Casino, Rich Kerr, San Diego County Credit Union, Marrs, Maddocks & Associates, Delsen & Company LLP.

The tournament included a host of activities, 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch and an award’s reception. Trophies were awarded to the top three scoring teams, and PGA professionals competed for a share of a $10,000 purse, generously donated by The Bill and Norma Verbeck Foundation.

3rd Gross (Score 57): Dan Mezich, Steve Kenney, Dala Yahnke, Hank Bauer

1st Peoria: Dave Sullivan, Francis Fox, Sean Kelly, Dan Krinsky

2nd Peoria: Kenny Blattenbauer, Dan Engle, Greg Hastings, Mark Paiz

3rd Peoria: Aart Obergh, Jim Stieringer

Carney applauded the efforts of the 2009 HGH Golf Classic Committee, which worked tirelessly for months planning and fundraising for the event. Committee members included: Craig Georgi, Chairman; Frank Gerberding, Vice Chairman; Committee Members: Mike Carney, Gary Fong, David Keltner, Bill Kramer, James O'Grady, Randy Rundle, Ben Trovaten and William Verbeck.
